Impressive T-Mobile Galaxy S has enhanced its 4G speed

Tuesday March 01, 2011

Galaxy S smartphone has a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen and 1GHz processor with a 720p high-definition camcorder and 5-megapixel camera on the back and a lesser-quality VGA camera on the front designed for video chatting. This gives an easy access to T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ wireless network for faster data downloading and uploading.

The camera is first-rate, and the night shooting mode is fine. Several Android apps are preloaded, including doubleTwist with AirSync, which pulls music and video from iTunes and Windows playlists into the phone wirelessly. If you often drop calls at home, you can tap into your home Wi-Fi to strengthen the signal – but it still uses your plan’s minutes. T-Mobile’s DriveSmart app will silence notifications, route calls to voicemail and send customizable auto-replies to let texters know you’ll get back to them when you’re off the road.

Video chatting on the T-Mobile Qik app is still pram and choosy. Sometimes 4G receptions gets peeling and often goes down to the slower 3G and Edge network speeds.

Overall: This is a pleasant upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. It’s disappointing that video chatting and sending still isn’t totally soft in spite of the 4G connection and front-facing camera. However, it is one of the best smartphones out there, and one any Android admirer is confident to respect.
